Flight Instructor Certificate

Privileges of a Flight Instructor Certificate

As a flight instructor, you will be able to teach new students the thrill and challenges of becoming a pilot! Becoming a certified flight instructor is also an important step to acquiring an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. While this is not a requirement to apply to the airlines, being a certified flight instructor is a popular choice for building hours and gaining valuable experience on your resume.

Although the syllabus is designed to meet Part 141 requirements, it can be used to meet Part 61 knowledge and proficiency requirements. Part 61 does not specify a minimum number of hours of flight or ground instruction for the flight instructor training. When the syllabus is used for training under Part 61, the applicant’s knowledge and proficiency level determines the number of hours required for flight and ground training.

You can read more about the detailed requirements and the privileges various licenses give you on the FAA’s Becoming a Pilot Web Page.

Please note that the cost above is for the course alone. Students will experience other charges prior to obtaining a certificate or rating such as: renter’s insurance, headset purchase or rentals, written exam, medical, checkride fees, etc.
